My favorite Romeo & Juliet character

My favorite character is Mercutio, because he is a very imprudent and impulsive character who gives more action to the play and a little fun than the others. Moreover, I really like him because he speaks with no impediments and he fights when its needed. In the notes of the book I read, the adaptation guy explains that Shakespeare needed to kill Mercutio, because he was taking a bigger role than main characters and I absolutely agree. Now, in the movie “Romeo + Juliet”, Mercutio’s character is totally different than the one I imagined, but I really admire the work of Harold Perrineau because he gave a very different perspective and point of view, that even he was a little bit kitsch, I really enjoyed his work.

Who is my favorite actor?

After a really long time to decide between all variety of actors, I realized that Mr. James Gandolfini is the chosen one.
Who is this guy? Well, he is an American actor best known for his amazing participation in HBO TV Series “The Sopranos”, where he played the role of Tony Soprano, a family guy and crime boss in New Jersey who wants to keep balance between both sides of his life. This work gave him 3 Emmys for “Best Actor in Drama” and the definitive jump to success. He has worked in some movies such as “8 m.m”, “The Mexican”, “The man who wasn’t there”; and more recently as Carol’s voice in “Where the wild things are” and “Welcome to the Rileys”.
He’s my favorite actor because I loved the way he played his roles in movies and mainly on TV, he is a guy who wants to have everything under control, but sometime, he can’t. Moreover, I liked his philosophy:” I’m an actor... I do a job and I go home. Why are you interested in me? You don't ask a truck driver about his job."
And finally, just for the record, when he was working in “The Sopranos” final season, HBO promised to pay him 1 million dollars per episode. I don’t know why things went wrong, but HBO didn’t pay him all this money; so he went to court, demanded a big TV enterprise, and as his role of crime boss but in real life, he won the trial and kicked-ass HBO.
Some of his movies are really crappy, but his role as the mafia boss changed my way to see things in real life: you need to be practical, but never forget to be a human being. That’s why James Gandolfini is my favorite actor.

“My scooter”

Long time ago, when I was a kid, everything seemed to be fun and freedom; I used to see the world as something really big where bad things happened to others, but not to me, I had a very optimistic point of view, but there are certain things that shift it as they happen.

At that time the scooter was the trend of every children in the streets, I remember that if you hadn’t had one, or at least something with wheels, you couldn’t be able to hang out with anybody. I worked really hard at school to convince my parents to buy me one, but they told me that it was dangerous because of the cars that suddenly appeared on the street and bla, bla, bla.. But as a kid, you had a tremendous power of persuasion against your parents, so at the end they agreed.
One weekend my family, my scooter and I visited my grandparents; all the family was there and I remember I felt very happy to see them all, specially my cousins who were more or less the same age as me and also had their scooters. We were like the Biker Mice from Mars, with the only difference that we hadn’t had bikes… we had scooters.
So “the gang” decided to make some races along the street, and f----ck yeah! It was really funny, we were all having a good time: lots of laugh, lots of candies and a great variety of scooter tricks. However, I didn’t mention it was my first time without the supervision of my parents in the scooter along the street, so I didn’t listen a word of the advices they told me before I go. So, you can imagine what happened next…
I was racing with my cousin, the race was really close, nobody knew who was going to win…the goal was in the other side of the street. In my head I said: “God, I feel like Superman, I’m riding so fast that I think I can fly, I’m going to win this race nothing can stop me… nothing”. Suddenly I saw my cousin breaking so hard, and the first thing I thought was: “Yeeeey I won! I won! I won!” , but everything went black.
When I opened my eyes I saw the face of an old man that was really worried about me, I didn’t listen a word of the people that was surrounding me, I saw the faces of my parents with a very strange face because they were happy but with tears in their eyes and my cousins were crying. Despite the fact that I was knocked down by a car I was a really lucky guy, I didn’t suffer serious wounds, only several scratches and a big bump in my head. Since that day, I learned to listen the advices of my parents or older people and the most important one, to see both sides of the street before I cross it because, trust me, you don’t want to be knocked down by any car or bus.
